Dark Jealousy

When I finished writing Guilty Deceptions, the idea came that Sheriff Dawson could be a series. I didn't want to let go of some of the characters I created. I needed a core I could work from. I got online and started researching crimes based in the 1800s for Saint John and Willow Grove. I soon stumbled upon William Hughes, convicted for killing his wife Elizabeth with an axe. I found the core of my story, but there was no mystery again.
I added elements to stretch the story out and twist it into something more, touching on taboo subjects in that time frame. I felt it was the way the story was going. My decision rested on these taboo subjects because of my curiosity. The actual murder happened in 1883, so I changed the date to make it fit Sheriff Dawson's time frame.
