Imposter Syndrome - It Hurts

There are many ups and downs in this field. Some authors struggle for years, and others never make it at all. There are times that I wonder if I have what it takes, if my writing is good enough to be published at all... or if I'm just fooling myself, and pretending to be something I'm really not. especially when my efforts get zero to little results, and I sit asking myself why.

Why It's Important to Support Self-Published Authors!

Do you know why traditionally published authors do so well? They usually have a team that covers the marketing. In fact, they have a team that covers everything from editing, marketing and even cover design.

Most Self-published authors, especially ones who are just starting out or struggling to be seen, does everything themselves. Besides writing the book, they edit, Market, and design their own covers. I am one of those self-published authors, who does everything myself, with very little reward for doing so. What is the best marketing tool out there, YOU.

There are ways to support a self-published author and you don't even have to spend a dime.

  1. The best way to show your support is to read the book! If you don't want to spend money on the book, no problem. Look for a free promo.

  2. Leave a review on Amazon, Goodreads or both.

  3. Follow all Social Media Accounts.

  4. Subscribe to their website.

  5. Spread the word, there are several ways to do this. Word of mouth, reading groups on Facebook, your social media feeds.

  6. Tell them you support them!

  7. Share their posts and Free content.

  8. Read their blogs, and share them on your Social Media.

  9. Tell your family and friends about this great author.

  10. Engage in their content.

I'm telling you guys, Imposter Syndrome is real, and it hits harder when your only engagement is from "Digital Marketers" looking to make a quick buck. It messes with your mind and makes it so you want to just throw in the towel and give up, because it appears you are wasting your time. It doesn't help that we have to spend 95% of our time, marketing. Engage with us, share our work, brighten our day, just show that you support us in some way, and maybe the imposter syndrome wouldn't be so bad.
