Monday Reveal & Other News

As promised, I am going to blog three times a week. I feel three times is plenty to give you updates on my progress, and give you a bit of news at the same time. I've been working hard on the First Draft of my work in progress. This morning I started chapter ten of nineteen and is currently sitting at 45,478 words. I feel that the work in progress is really coming a long and I should be done the First Draft by the end of the month.

The Process

After the First Draft is complete, I will let it sit for a day. This will give me time to be looking at it with fresh eyes. When the day is over, the next morning I will start reading through the First Draft, making notes in another font colour (Usually Red) because it stands out. Once my

notes are completed. I will start the rewrite process of the Second Draft, and I will make the changes necessary for the Second Draft.

Once the Second Draft is complete, I'll let it sit for another day. Then the following morning, I will read through the entire manuscript again, making more notes in red font. When that is finished, I will sit down a third time and rewrite the entire manuscript making the necessary changes a second time.

When this is finished, I'll give my work to a few beta readers, and have them read through the entire manuscript. This takes some time as everyone reads at a different pace. When my beta readers are finished with the manuscript, and have given me their feedback, I will sit down and rewrite the entire manuscript one last time.

But things aren't done for me there. After the Manuscript is rewritten for the last time. I will be reading it twelve different times, and making the necessary edits that needs to be done.

When that is finished, the book should be ready for release. While the process is a long one, I will be working hard everyday, so that it can be released as soon as possible.

The Work in Progress

As I've said, my new work in progress is partly a sequel to Guilty Deceptions. Some of the core characters will be making a return, and that of course includes the main character, Sheriff Stephen Dawson, his deputy Patrick Jackson and other beloved characters from the first book.

The project picks up one year after Guilty Deceptions ends. It follows the investigation of a series of murders that take place in Willow Grove. With the introduction of a new story, there are new characters, and a ton of plot twists to keep you on the edge of your seat. But what's it called? I told you all on Saturday that I thought it was time to reveal the working title for the new project. I'm definite that this will be the title, and so I see no reason not to share it with you so that we can stop calling it the Work in Progress. Yes, it has a name so lets use it from here on out. The title for my work in progress will be:

Dark Jealousy

I decided to keep the two word combo, as I feel it works well for these books. I'm sure that Dark Jealousy will be even better than Guilty Deceptions.

My Plans for Guilty Deceptions & Dark Jealousy

While I'm still going to promote Guilty Deceptions for an hour each day. I have two main focus points. The first will be working on Dark Jealousy, 7 days a week. It will take up the bulk of my day, and in the end I can only hope it's worth it.

My second focus, is connections. With you the reader, as I hope we can develop a relationship beyond just buy my book. I will be working hard to build my mailing list, connect on my social media's, and have end came up with a content bucket, that I hope you all enjoy. While I have Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and Pinterest. My main and preferred social media is Twitter. I will be very active on Twitter, and if you don't already follow me on there please do so.

I will dedicate about 2 hours in the morning to promoting Guilty Deceptions, and I'll continue to talk about Guilty Deceptions on my social medias on the days slated for my books. Yet, I'm not worrying about promoting hard, because I have a good marketing plan for the future, and I think that it will be interesting to see how well it does.

What I'm going to do is this time I'm going to Pre-order Dark Jealousy, and at the same time run a free promotion for Guilty Deceptions.

Reading Material

I'm still reading The Remaking by Clay McCleod Chapman. So far, it's a good read. I'm only a few chapters into it. Yet, seems to be charmed meets the shining. I will keep you further posted on my thoughts on the book, as I progress through the book.

Movies & Television

Lately, I haven't been watching too much TV, as I've been busy promoting Guilty Deceptions and writing Dark Jealousy. However, when I do get the time I've been watching a lot of Secrets and Lies (US) on Disney+. If you haven't seen it yet, I advise you check it out, especially the first season with Ryan Phillipe. It's one of the best mysteries I've seen on TV.

As for movies, I've been watching a lot of movies from the 1980s and 1990s lately. I don't know what it is for me but I find the older movies better. I did however, watch Scream 5, not that long ago. If you follow the franchise, I suggest you see this movie. In my opinion it was the best one since the original.

Until Next time,

D.C. Malcolm
