Progress Updates and Other News

Hey guys, so I'm a day late with my blog this week but there's a few things I'd like to cover so I'm posting this today as opposed to waiting until Saturday.

Progress Update

Okay so first I'd like to talk a little bit about my progress with Dark Jealousy. I had a bit of a late start this week. I believe I said in my YouTube Vlog on Wednesday that I was at 23k words of the second draft.

Now, I've made it to 27k words, and I'll be even further by the end of the day. A summer/fall release is looking quite possible as long as I work extensively on this project, it can be possible. I want to get this book out to you as soon as is humanly possible.

I'll be meeting with two local historians this spring, so that I have a better understanding of Old Saint John, and surrounding Parishes. As well as buildings that would have stood then.

I've had a few chats with these historians and they have been super helpful with my research.

I'll be working hard to get everything right. Somethings within the story might be off by a couple of years, but I'm doing my best to stick to 1871 era.

Social Media

You might have noticed that the last few days, I haven't been as active on Social Media. Because I had a late start in the week, I'm struggling to do everything I need to in a day, and something has to give. I'll be posting more on Social Media in the coming weeks.

Other Projects

With Dark Jealousy quickly approaching an actual release date I have been thinking of other projects to work on. I got a couple of ideas in mind. One of them is the third and final book to feature Sheriff Dawson. The other one will be another historical mystery with whole new characters. Set it a time earlier than Guilty Deceptions. I'm undecided which book I'll start first, but I'll have a fairly good idea by the time I'm finished with Dark Jealousy.

Going Wide

Right now Guilty Deceptions is available exclusively on Amazon, and enrolled in KU. This means that the book is not available in book stores or libraries at this time. In the next few months I'm going to try to get a few author copies of the book and attempt to donate them

to the library. I have no idea at this point if they are even allowed to use donated books, I'll

ask the librarian the next time I visit the library.

Eventually, I plain on pulling out of KU, and going wide. What that means is that there will no longer be promotions running on Amazon, and it won't be exclusively on Amazon either. I plain to publish Guilty Deceptions with IngramSpark sometime in the future. I need to learn

more about it, and obviously I have to come up with the money to go wide. Which is about 50 dollars per book.

This plain depends on how well Guilty Deceptions does on Amazon, and you all can help with that. How can you help? Well, for starters you can join at least one of my Social Media's. Then share the posts you see with your friends, go on murder mystery book groups and promote Guilty Deceptions as most of these groups don't allow self promotion. So, many readers don't know about me or my book. The more exposure I get the better the book will do on Amazon and the quicker I can go wide.

YouTube

I'm having a lot of fun doing From the Desk of D.C. Malcolm vlogs. These will be posted on YouTube every Wednesday, but occasionally I'll be doing more than one a week. I just got a better camera, and am hoping to learn how to use it instead of the built in camera. Because of that I might be posting a special Vlog before Wednesday.

Promotions

Usually I run a free promo for my Kindle edition of Guilty Deceptions, which both Canada and the US can benefit from. This time around, I'll be running my first countdown deal, which is for the US only, unfortunately. The countdown deal will run from March 24th to March 31st. So if you're from the US you can get the kindle version for as little as $0.99 cents. The kindle is also available through Kindle Unlimited which means you can borrow the book for free, and read it if you have a Kindle Unlimited membership.

I have a few other surprises coming up for Guilty Deceptions, that will hopefully push the book more.

I usually do self promotions on Twitter and Facebook twice a week. If you see it please share it as it helps me gain exposure. The more people know about me and my book, the more likely people will read it. So you sharing my content is very important and highly appreciated. Until Next Time, D.C.
